It looks like Hussein Obama is relentless in his attempts to be a lawless man and attack the rights of American citizens when it comes to guns. This time it is related to the sale of private guns.
Following the shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon, Obama wanted to illegally push for an expansion of background checks, even though the shooter passed background checks for the weapons he owned.
Now, criminal former New York City mayor and founder of Everytown for Gun Safety Michael Bloomberg is encouraging Obama to bypass Congress and usurp more executive authority on an issue the Constitution does not allow the federal government to write law to restrict or regulate arms nor does it allow the president to issue executive orders concerning arms.
Everytown for Gun Safety, a group backed by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, is set to unveil a proposal Thursday, and it says the White House could adopt it without input from Congress.
The group’s recommendations target laws for sellers who make occasional sales versus those who are said to be engaged in the business — or rather, gun hobbyists versus gun dealers.
Since the law doesn’t specify the threshold at which an occasional seller becomes a gun dealer, courts have interpreted the statutes differently. Everytown argues this is where President Obama can step in.
Its report calls for the president to codify who is engaged in the business of selling guns. Someone who sells more than 25 guns a year, it recommends, should be considered a gun dealer and subject to federal regulations.
Everytown also wants the president to define what counts as a “personal collection” of firearms. The law currently exempts gun sales from a person’s personal collection from federal checks.
This isn’t something new. Back in August, Bloomberg publicized his bought-and-paid for background check legislation he wants to see implemented. Instead of upholding the law, these criminal gun grabbers want to seek any and every possible way around the law, but the Second Amendment, as written, won’t allow for it, even though judges and legislators claim otherwise.
Why Americans are standing for this mythical distinction of gun hobbyists versus gun dealers is beyond me. It is based on how a person thinks, not about what the issue is. The Second Amendment is clear:
“…the rights of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
It made no mention of the reason you obtained an arm, just that the right to keep and bear them would not be infringed.
Back when Obama first floated the idea of doing what Everytown is proposing, it was reported that “50 or 100 guns a year [would be] the threshold to trigger” the new background check “requirements.” However, at the time, the Obama administration had not “formally settled on a number.”
So, they want to be arbitrary in determining who and who they are going to target. How is that equal protection under the law? It isn’t, and because it is an infringement upon the rights of the people, it is lawless!
What these people fail to acknowledge is their own failed policies. There would be no story of the Oregon shooting, Sandy Hook or Chattanooga if gun-free zones had not been implemented by Bill Clinton. And gun free zones are where 92% of all mass shootings occur! It seems to me, that you stop infringing on people’s rights and encourage them to exercise them if you really want to deal with the issue, but those are the facts. And as John Adams famously said, “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”
