In another story of heroism, a Dallas store owner had to confront two robbers in his store on Tuesday evening. For one of the robbers, it didn’t end well.
Just before 10 pm, Bunthan Te, owner of the Shop-N-Go convenience store on Munger Boulevard and Columbia Avenue, and his wife encountered two armed, masked men who entered their store and demanded money, as a third man waited in the car they arrived in.
Upon entering the store, one man held Te’s wife at gunpoint as the other jumped over the counter to open the cash register.
That’s when Te grabbed his gun in an attempt to use it, but it jammed.
One of the suspects chased him into the cooler where a close range firefight began. Te was not hit and doesn’t remember hitting the robber, but the man ran away.
Te then ran out of the cooler to help his wife, who had been able to break away from the other man. He fired several shots at the suspect as the two other men drove away.
The suspect was found by police lying in the parking lot and was pronounced dead on the scene. He has yet to be identified.
The two other suspects are still at large.
While the store had security cameras, it was unclear whether or not they were working. However, another business across from the store did capture images of the three suspects driving and walking around in the parking lot.
Te told FOX 4 that he is not very fond of guns, but does keep one at his store for use in protecting himself and his wife.
